Rhinoplasty is a surgery to correct the shape of the nose. The main task of rhinoplasty is the correction of congenital or acquired deformities, cosmetic defects, as well as the complete restoration of an organ lost due to various injuries or diseases.

Rhinoplasty includes many different operations:

  • nose tip correction ;
  • correction of the wings of the nose ;
  • nose hump correction ;
  • plastic surgery of the nasal septum (septoplasty) ;
  • nose contouring ;
  • rhinoplasty of the nostrils.

INDICATIONS FOR NOSE CORRECTION

Nose correction is one of the most common plastic surgeries. Indications for nose correction surgery may be deformities of the shape of the nose, nasal septum, congenital cosmetic defects, for example:

  • excessive length or thickness of the nose;
  • the presence of a hump;
  • curved septum;
  • pointed tip, etc.

In addition to cosmetic defects, an indication for nose reshaping surgery is the normalization of breathing, impaired due to various diseases or injuries.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

The shape of the nose changes as a person grows, so any plastic surgeon will not allow rhinoplasty before the age of 18 for cosmetic reasons. It is also not recommended to perform surgery after 40 years: at this age, the process of tissue regeneration slows down, and the risk of complications increases. Other contraindications include:

  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • diseases of the blood, cardiovascular system, liver, kidneys, thyroid gland;
  • viral and infectious diseases;
  • oncological diseases;
  • diabetes;
  • inflammation of the skin in the surgical area.

Common methods of rhinoplasty are open and closed rhinoplasty. In the first case, the surgeon makes an incision in the crease between the nostrils; this method is necessary for a large amount of work, for example, to correct a wide nose or plastic nose tip.

In closed rhinoplasty, the surgeon makes only a few small incisions. This method is also successfully used in hump rhinoplasty, wide nose rhinoplasty and tip rhinoplasty.

In Esthetic Surgery, an operation is practiced to correct the nasal septum using the Gubish method. The final decision on the method used is always made by the attending physician. All methods of surgery, including laser rhinoplasty, are performed under general anesthesia. The operation lasts 60-90 minutes depending on the complexity.
