Lip augmentation is a very popular plastic procedure that aims to increase the volume of the lips and improve their shape. Usually, flat and thin lips are a sign of old age, while plump lips are considered a sign of youth.
Significant thinning of the upper lip . In this case, the upper lip is almost invisible. It may also be the result of such a congenital anomaly as a cleft lip. Correction in this case is aimed at one lip. In addition, in such a situation, the so-called. lifting – raising the lip, in addition to increasing it.
Thinning of the lower lip. Usually changes in the lower lip are not as common as the upper. At the same time, the upper lip hangs over the thin lower lip and is almost invisible. The correction consists in increasing only the lower lip.
Unevenly developed lips . This is a condition where the right and left side of the lip or lips are different in size. In this case, one side of the lip is corrected to restore its symmetry. Usually, an injectable filler is injected into the smaller part of the lip. Sometimes this asymmetry of the lips can be the result of an injury to the lip, scarring, or a consequence of treatment in childhood of a cleft lip.
Too big lips . Sometimes the lips are too big so that it spoils the look of the face. Lips may be too wide or too plump. Sometimes plump hanging lips can be the result of an injury. Among other things, protruding lips may be characteristic of some ethnic groups. If the patient does not like her too large lips, she undergoes a lip reduction procedure.
But, in the end, no matter what is said, most women consider large and plump lips to be the standard of sexuality and female attractiveness. It should be remembered that ideally the upper lip is usually slightly thinner than the lower.To correct the shape of the lips, their increase can help. Today, lip plasty is performed in two ways. This is a surgical method when incisions and sutures are applied. This method is chosen if it is necessary to radically change the shape of the lips. In this case, the surgeon excises a flap of skin above the upper lip, and then forms a new contour of the upper lip. Next, the edges of the skin are sutured. The scar after such a mini-operation on the lip is practically not noticeable. In addition, any lipstick can easily “finish” the disguise of such a scar.
The second method of lip augmentation, probably the most popular, is contouring, that is, when injectable fillers are used. Today, different materials are used for lip contouring, both natural and synthetic, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.
The essence of the method is that the surgeon introduces a special material into the thickness of the lip, and then evenly distributes it with his fingers over the entire thickness of the lip. Usually, both the surgical intervention and the introduction of fillers of the lips react the same way – they swell. That is why at first the patient experiences slight discomfort and pain in the lip area. In addition, small bruises – bruises – may remain from the introduction of the needle. All these phenomena gradually disappear on their own, but this can be accelerated by applying cold to the lips, as well as various physiotherapeutic methods and massage.
The results of lip augmentation also depend on which material for contouring was chosen. The results of contouring are visible immediately as the swelling subsides. In some cases, the injected filler (on a natural basis) may dissolve a little, usually within 1-1.5 months, which entails some change in the contour of the lips. Therefore, in this case, an additional injection of the filler is likely to be required.Lip contouring allows you to give your lips a seductive elasticity and attractiveness, volume and beauty that cannot be achieved during surgery. Usually, lip contouring is combined with a facelift, various methods of wrinkle removal, skin resurfacing, as well as facial plastic surgery using implants. This allows you to get the most complete result.
Of course, as in other areas of plastic surgery, complications can occur with lip contouring, but this is very rare. At the same time, complications may be associated with infection, inflammation, an allergic reaction to the injected filler, or gel compaction in the lip tissue. Sometimes the doctor is forced to remove the injected gel. In order to avoid these complications, it is important to consider contraindications for lip augmentation.The result of lip augmentation depends on what material was chosen for contouring. On average, the effect of lip contouring lasts from six months to a year. After that, the gel gradually dissolves. Then you can simply go through a second lip augmentation procedure.
