Blepharoplasty, Esthetic Surgery

Eyelid Surgery in Turkey

Particularly delicate and sensitive skin of the delicate area of the eye contour primarily reacts to age-related changes, as well as bad habits, lack of sleep, failures in removing excess fluid from the body. This leads to the fact that already at the age of forty, in the period of the prime of life, pronounced folds of the upper eyelids and unattractive bags under the eyes interfere with looking young. The disadvantage, by the way, is not only external: it provokes increased eye fatigue and, as a result, visual impairment.

In such a case, the arsenal of modern aesthetic medicine has an effective remedy – blepharoplasty. Relative simplicity, no need for general anesthesia, minimal risk of subsequent complications determine the high popularity of this method – both in men and women. Let’s try to delve deeper into the essence of the operation itself.

After an indispensable preliminary diagnosis (during the conversation, you need to talk about all your allergies and drug intolerance), the doctor determines what type of correction is required: upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both.

In the first case, transconjunctival access is most often used: an incision is made on the inner surface of the lower eyelid (classical or laser method), then excess adipose tissue and axillary hernias are removed.

More complex blepharoplasty of the upper eyelids is carried out in a similar way, with the only difference being that the excision is made in the area of the natural crease of the eyelid. After removal of excess adipose tissue, excess skin remains, which must also be eliminated, otherwise the desired effect will not be achieved.

At the same time, an inexperienced doctor may overdo it a little, and as a result, the patient’s eyes, even during sleep, will remain slightly ajar. Such a mistake should be avoided: it leads to unacceptable drying of the cornea. It is better to leave a small “reserve”, and bring the result to perfection, resorting to the help of cosmetology and face-building (facial gymnastics).

After the operation, the likelihood of edema remains for some time, and the skin may have a pinkish tint and increased sensitivity for several more days. The list of medical prescriptions and the duration of the rehabilitation period will pleasantly surprise even the busiest and most cautious patients. Before the operation, it is forbidden to sunbathe and drink alcohol for two weeks (otherwise the local anesthesia will not work), and after that it is not recommended to wear contact lenses, visit solariums and beaches for the same two weeks. That, perhaps, is all.

In general, blepharoplasty is considered one of the safest plastic surgery methods. Of the possible risks, only the likelihood of conjunctivitis can be noted, however, with strict adherence to all the recommendations of the surgeon, it is also excluded.
