A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is an operation from the field of plastic surgery, the purpose of which is a purely aesthetic transformation. This procedure allows you to correct the shape of the breast, restoring the natural volume of the bust, making the woman more attractive and younger.

Throughout life, the state of the mammary glands, their natural form, changes literally in every woman. The breasts gradually sag and stretch, becoming less attractive, which is why many women begin to experience psychological discomfort about dissatisfaction with their own bodies.

A breast lift is an effective and relatively simple solution to these problems. Among the main indications for this operation, plastic surgeons include:

  • ptosis caused by a decrease in skin elasticity due to age-related changes;
  • prolapse of the mammary glands after pregnancy and lactation;
  • weight loss and concomitant reduction in breast volume.

In plastic surgery, there are several methods of breast lift. The choice of technique for the operation depends on the size of the mammary glands, as well as the severity of ptosis. The most common ways are:

  • Vertical mastopexy is one of the most difficult methods used in severe forms of ptosis. The vertical technique involves making a fairly deep incision followed by partial resection of the glandular tissues.
  • Periareolar mastopexy is one of the most common techniques, especially effective up to stage 2 of ptosis. The incision is made along the circumference of the nipple halo, through this access, excess stretched tissues are removed, and a lift is performed.
  • Endoscopic mastopexy – initially the surgeon makes an incision in the armpit, thus gaining access to the breast tissue. With the help of a special surgical instrument and an endoscope, the doctor separates the breast tissue from the skin, performs a lift, and then sutures it.
  • Lifting with mesothreads – this technique is difficult to compare with the full-fledged operations described above. Its essence lies in the fact that with the help of hollow needles, special threads are implanted into the dermal layers, providing a lifting effect. Over time, these threads are replaced by connective tissue, creating a natural frame that holds the breast in the desired shape. However, this method is effective mainly with minor ptosis and breast size no more than a third.

There are other methods of breast lift, but those described above are considered the most popular and effective.
