Augmentation mammoplasty, or breast arthroplasty , is a plastic surgery for breast augmentation, which allows, by installing implants, to give it the desired shape and size.
INDICATIONS FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION:
- very small breasts (hypomastia) or lack thereof (amastia);
- disproportionate development of the mammary glands (asymmetry, disproportion);
- aesthetic preferences for increasing size and changing shape;
- restoration of volume after losing weight or breastfeeding.
The personal preferences of the patient in terms of the location of the postoperative suture, as a rule, determine the method of arthroplasty:
- periareolar approach – an incision of about 4 cm is made arcuately along the lower edge of the areola. This method is preferable when it is necessary to simultaneously correct the size and shape of the areolas, while it is undesirable to use it with an areola diameter of less than 3 cm;
- transaxillary access – through the armpit. During the operation, endoscopic equipment is used, which allows you to fully control the process through a video camera, however, this method does not allow the installation of implants with a volume of more than 350 ml and is undesirable for a wide chest;
- submammary access – through the inframammary fold. The most anatomical, since it does not affect the ducts of the mammary gland, but is not used when the submammary fold is not formed (complete absence of the breast).
The duration of the operation is 60-90 minutes. It is performed under general anesthesia. Stay in the hospital for a day.In the presence of benign neoplasms in the mammary gland (fibroadenoma, cysts), in our Center for Plastic Surgery, it is possible to perform a combined operation with a mammologist to remove the neoplasm and simultaneously increase the breast.
The effect of the operation is immediately visible – the breast acquires more prominent forms and aesthetic outlines. During the first three months, swelling subsides and the sensitivity of the skin and nipples is completely restored, and the stitches from the operation gradually turn into a light, inconspicuous strip. It is better to plan a pregnancy after mammoplasty no earlier than six months later, when a connecting capsule forms around the implant, preventing its displacement.
