Breast Lift Surgery

Breast augmentation

Breast augmentation is performed to improve the appearance, size, and contour of the female breast. Women consider breast augmentation for a variety of reasons. Some women feel that their breasts are too small. Some people want to enlarge their breasts after pregnancy. Others want to correct the asymmetry in breast size.

Breast augmentation is performed with implants that can be placed under or under the pectoral muscle. The incision can be made in the armpit, areola, or lower breast crease. In general, all breast augmentation surgeries are minimally invasive procedures as the incisions are only three centimeters long. Breast implants consist of a silicone shell filled with saline (saltwater) or silicone gel. A woman determines her desired size by selecting trial implants.
Breast augmentation is a relatively simple procedure. As with any surgery, there is some uncertainty and risk associated with breast augmentation surgery. Familiarize yourself with the benefits, risks, and alternatives. Seek advice from a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Breast reduction

Breast reduction surgery is often indicated for women with large, heavy breasts who experience significant discomfort, including neck pain, numbness, or back weakness due to the weight of the breasts. During this procedure, excess skin, fat, and breast tissue is removed. After breast reduction surgery, there may be a change in the sensuality of the breast, as well as the inability to breastfeed. Most often, in the case of large resections associated with nipple transplantation, almost everyone loses sensitivity and the ability to breastfeed. If breastfeeding is important to you, you may want to postpone your breast reduction procedure until you have finished breastfeeding.
After breast reduction, most women report relief from symptoms caused by large breasts.

Breast reconstruction

Breast reconstruction surgery is often performed on women who are undergoing a mastectomy as part of their breast cancer treatment.
The procedure recreates the breast with the desired appearance, contour, and volume, as well as recreating the nipple and areola. Normal breast sensation and normal breast function, as in breastfeeding, are not restored because the sensitive nerves, mammary glands, and ducts have been removed or severely damaged.

The appearance, contour, and volume of the breast can be recreated using implants or from the woman’s tissue. If an implant is used, the size of the implant corresponds to the size of the breast. When possible, the implant is placed under the pectoral muscle. Breasts can also be recreated using the woman’s tissue.

The procedure has no known effect on cancer recurrence and does not affect cancer follow-up. However, you will be instructed in self-examination and scheduled regular follow-up appointments.
