Blepharoplasty is performed to eliminate the correction of the shape of the eyelids and remove excess skin and fatty tissue of the upper and lower eyelids. With blepharoplasty, intervention can be performed on both the upper and lower eyelids, as well as on all eyelids.

Blepharoplasty is often performed in combination with other plastic procedures, in fairness, with a facelift, as well as with various forms of contouring, laser skin resurfacing and peels.
One of the most common types of eyelid surgery is lower eyelid lift, when it is in the form of a hanging bag. This procedure is called canthoplasty. It is used to correct blepharoptosis (drooping of the eyelid). Among other things, blepharoplasty is performed in the case of general age-related changes in the skin of the face, when the eyelids look like bags under the eyes.

Today, in the arsenal of a plastic surgeon there are several types of blepharoplasty, such as laser, blepharoplasty with the formation of a cut of the oriental eyes, transconjunctival blepharoplasty, redistribution of adipose tissue of the eyelids, etc. SOOF lifting.

Who can recommend blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty, like many other plastic interventions, should, first of all, be performed in healthy patients, if they have no contraindications to surgery. Plastic interventions, incl. and blepharoplasty are undesirable in patients with chronic diseases (diabetes mellitus, hypertension, heart disease), as they have a higher risk of complications during and after surgery, as well as worse wound healing.

In some cases, blepharoplasty may not give the desired effect, since the problem can affect not only the eyelids, but also other areas of the face, in particular, the skin of the forehead and eyebrows. Therefore, sometimes blepharoplasty is not performed separately for a patient, and it is combined with a lift of the eyebrows and forehead skin. In this case, the best results can be obtained by combining blepharoplasty of the upper eyelids with an endoscopic forehead skin lift. This procedure helps to stretch the skin of the upper eyelids, remove excess fat and excess skin, and also tighten drooping eyebrows above the eyes.

Indications for blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is most often performed with signs of facial aging, when the skin loses its tone and droops in the forehead, nasolabial folds, eyelids, eyebrows and neck. Blepharoplasty, especially in combination with other procedures, allows you to rejuvenate the appearance of the face and remove the expression of fatigue from the face.

Among the most common indications for blepharoplasty are eyelid defects such as puffy, saccular droopy upper eyelids with excess skin in the form of a fold, drooping of the lower eyelid in the form of a bag due to old age, swollen “fat” folds in the upper and lower eyelids, and also fatty hernia, which is the cause of the formation of bags under the eyes, eyelid wrinkles due to loss of skin tone, eye fatigue due to the fact that hanging upper eyelids interfere with normal vision.
