Can We Change Shape of Nose?

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure used to correct the shape of the nose. In its course, it is possible to correct congenital or acquired defects and even completely restore nasal tissues lost due to various reasons.

All indications for this intervention can be divided into medical and cosmetic. The first group is disorders that objectively affect health. In most cases, these are anatomical changes that impair respiratory function.

With the second group of reasons (cosmetic), a person is simply dissatisfied with his appearance. In such cases, rhinoplasty, for example, of a large or crooked nose works as a psychological factor: it improves a person’s self-esteem and his perception of his own appearance.

The most common indications:

  • acquired deformities of the nose;
  • curvature of the nasal septum;
  • excessively long or, conversely, short nose;
  • pronounced hump;
  • strongly raised, lowered down, narrowed or wide tip.

Contraindications for surgery:

  • age less than 18 years (the shape of the nose is still changing naturally);
  • age over 40 years (deterioration of tissue healing and increased risk of complications);
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • serious pathologies of the cardiovascular system;
  • insufficiency of liver and / or kidney functions;
  • endocrine diseases;
  • infections in the active stage;
  • blood clotting disorders;
  • oncopathology;
  • skin disorders in the area of intervention.

Rhinoplasty is the most frequently performed plastic surgery and at the same time one of the most difficult. Highly qualified experienced surgeons of SB Esthetic Surgery will perform it at a high level.

There are two main methods of rhinoplasty:

  1. Closed . During such an operation, surgical incisions are made from the side of the nasal mucosa, that is, from the inside. Scars after such an intervention are completely hidden. But it is more difficult to operate with this method – the surgeon does not see the surgical field well. This method is more often used for small volume rhinoplasty.
  2. Open . Here, incisions are made on the outer surface of the nose. This method is considered to be preferable because the doctor has a much better view of the surgical field. And postoperative scars are usually very small and almost completely disappear with time. The open method is used for all large-scale interventions, for example, when correcting a wide nose or correcting the shape of its back.

The operation takes place under general anesthesia and lasts, depending on the volume, from 60 to 90 minutes.
